JVC GZ MG27 Digital Camcorder

Price: $399.99

Consumer: Digital Video Camera Buyers

The purpose of the JVC GZ MG27 Digital Camcorder is to provide a mid-priced range camera to those who take digital video for personal use.

Pros: The JVC GZ MG27 Digital Camcorder has tons of usable features and the hard drive is wonderful. No more tapes are needed at all. The JVC GZ MG27 Digital Camcorder needs no special software. You just plug it into the USB and XP sees it as an external hard drive. Then all you have to do is drag and drop. It couldn’t be easier.

One very happy reviewer wrote, “I have read lots of reviews that really slam the JVC GZ MG27 Digital Camcorder but what I have learned since owning one is that you have to format the drive before you use it. The first 3 videos we shot were awful then I read the book and it said the format is a must. I formatted the drive and now the videos are excellent. I bet those reviewers that didn’t like the quality of this camcorder never formatted the drive before using it.” Yep, when all else fails, read the directions.

Cons: One could wish for a better still camera. 640 X 480 is the only option. The entire NewEgg.com website suffers from a serious case of screen stretch and is difficult to navigate.

Guarantee: There is no written guarantee of satisfaction listed on the website. There is, however, a return policy that reads in part, “All returns require an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number, which can be obtained by contacting our Customer Service department or clicking the “My Account” button in the top-right hand corner of our web page.”

Value for money: The JVC GZ MG27 Digital Camcorder is a very good value in a mid-price range digital video recorder.
